MUNICH, Germany – Earlier today Messe Munich – show organizer of among others Bike Expo – announced at a press conference that it is changing its dates and name. Next year Bike Expo is named ISPO Bike and takes place from August 16 – 19, 2012 in Munich.
With the date and name change the organizers of the Munich show are stepping into a new round of head-on competition with Eurobike. At a press conference held earlier today Klaus Dittrich, Messe Munich CEO, praised once again Munich at the place to be for the international bike business with sufficient exhibition space as well as the right infrastructure including an international airport and many hotels.
He said: “In view of the expected growth of the bike business in the years to come, Munich as the venue for an international bike show can offer the required capacity for that growth. To further enhance such growth Bike Expo will be integrated into the renowned ISPO brand name as ISPO Bike. ISPO exists as a sports show already for over 40 years and developed into the network for the international sports business.
“Next to the name change we also decided for a change of dates. The ISPO Bike will take place from August 16 – 19, 2012. With this date change we meet the explicit demand from the bike sector which is very much in favour of a later date.”
