GEEL, Belgium – Retail organization Biretco has set a new mile stone by enlisting its 70th member in Belgium, Lievens’ Bike. It has not been very easy for Biretco to recruit members in Belgium as the local IBD’s still used to operate independently.
“The strong growth of Biretco in Belgium, particularly in the last year, shows that the market is changing and a growing number of Belgium IBD’s are considering to join a strong retail organization, without being afraid of losing their autonomy”, says Ad Roest, who is handling the foreign markets for Biretco. “We are confident to have 75 Belgium members on our list by the end of this year.”
Lievens Bike was founded in 1975 as a family business by Ward Lievens and his wife Margaret. In the beginning Lievens was mainly selling road race and city bike. In the eighties MTB, trekking bike and a wide range of parts and accessories were added to the product range.
Since 2009 the tradition of the family business is continued by Lievens’ daughter Vicky, her husband Jeroen along with a qualified staff of eight people. In Belgium and Germany, Biretco offers the entrepreneurs two means of cooperation: the business concept “Profiles ‘the cycling expert’ or and the Biretco Buying Group. Lievens Bike has chosen to join the Biretco Buying Group (BBG).
