The new Gigapower brake shoes are developed especially for carbon fibre rims. Tested and approved to EN 14766/14764/14781 standards, the main feature of these brake pads is the improved ability of heat transfer. This is important when used in combination with carbon rims.
The ceramic fibre shoes extends the carbon rim’s life by insulating the friction heat build up and keeps the temperature on the rim at a maximum between 70 and 100 degrees Celsius. Once a carbon fibre rim has become too hot it will damage the structure and the rim can not be used anymore.
These Gigapower brake shoes stay cooler than conventional versions and prevent damaging the rim. EN testing was done at the Bike Test Centre in Aachen, Germany.
