VARBERG, Sweden - As part of a major production reorganisation Cycleurope’s President and CEO Tony Grimaldi (photo) has decided to reduce the number of facilities in Europe.
“To meet the increasing competition on the bicycle market, we will close our Kildemoes facility in Denmark,” he announced last week in a letter to his suppliers. “The production in Denmark will be moved to our factories in Romilly, France, and Varberg, Sweden, We will also outsource some volumes to Asia.”
“Our new strategy enables us to rationalize the production and to offer more competitive products in the future. The first step is to concentrate our e-Bike production in France while Sweden will focus on the development of the classic and city bike segments.”
Kildemoes is one of the most popular and well known bike brands in Denmark. It is known for its high quality and will continue to be sold and marketed in Denmark.
The Danish production will be closed during the year. It marks the end of an era of bicycle production by the Kildemoes family. In 1942 Borge Kildemoes started producing bicycles in a workshop in Odense.
