Dorel Industries Invests in Dedicated Apparel Footwear Group Facility

BURNABY, Canada - Cannondale, GT, Schwinn, Iron Horse, Sugoi and Mongoose parent company Dorel Industries has officially unveiled a new facility last week for their Apparel Footwear Group Division (AFG). The newly renovated 70,000-square-foot complex includes manufacturing to distribution along with the Global Headquarters for design and marketing.

The new Burnaby location in the Metro-Vancouver area in Canada employs more than 225 people. “The AFG division will focus on building custom apparel business, developing cycling and running gear for teams and clubs”, said Dorel President and CEO, Martin Schwartz at the opening.

“This facility will allow us to increase our custom apparel capacity and offer highly competitive lead times. We have just started in this expanding market and we expect to triple our custom apparel business within five years.”

Dorel has made a US$ 3 million investment to upgrade the AFG facility. The portfolio of brands that make up the division include Sugoi, Cannondale, GT, Schwinn, Iron Horse and Mongoose.

“By investing in state-of-the-art technology such as digital printing and high speed precision sublimation, we expect to create improve our position on the market”, said Chris Fuentes, President of the AFG division.
