Biketec (Flyer) GM Kurt Schär Honoured with Swiss Entrepreneur of the Year Award

ZURICH, Switzerland – End of October Kurt Schär, general manager of e-bike pioneer Biketec AG (Flyer), was honoured at this year’s Ernst & Young’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ competition in Switzerland.

47 Swiss companies were nominated in four categories. The jury awarded Kurt Schär as Entrepreneur of the Year in the industry category. This award praises: “Company personalities and their active role within a company, above-average growth rates, a high degree of innovation, a high level of internationality standing as well as the company’s social commitment.”

“I feel honoured to receive this award as a representative of the entire Flyer team,” said Schär at the ceremony in Zürich, “we have been always convinced that e-mobility has a lot of potential and much more to offer than the old image of e-bikes for elderly and handicapped only.”

On of the main reasons for Biketec AG’s success is the move to work hand in hand with the tourist business in Switzerland and other German speaking countries. Today many tourist regions count on Flyer e-bike rentals for which battery exchange stations have been created.

Currently, the state of the art Biketec AG factory in Huttwill, Switzerland has a 300 e-bikes per day production capacity which are made and marketed by about 160 employees.A new additional building is in the pipeline.
