M-way Heading for E-car Dealership

ZURICH, Switzerland - M-way remains the brand for early adapters. After this Swiss Migros e-mobility brand tried to distinguish itself with a range of trendy e-bikes and e-scooters, they are now trying to catch up with the cars. The new Chevrolet Volt is the first fully-fledged electric-powered model offered by this well-known car manufacturer.

Hans-Joerg Dohrmann, CEO of M-way (right on photo): “The cooperation with Chevrolet Suisse makes it possible for us to create a strong position in the market for electric cars. The Chevrolet Volt is the first electrically driven vehicle that can even generate its own electricity.”

Chevrolet Suisse SA and M-way launched the Chevrolet Volt on the European pilot market for e-mobility: Switzerland. It is the first full size e-car after the much smaller Think model. “This car will clearly stand out from conventional hybrid or electric vehicles thanks to its range of 40 to 80 km per charge and up to 500 kilometers with a single fuel tank,” siad Dohrmann. “The e-car is actually driven with an electric motor while the 16-kWh lithium-ion battery is the primary energy source. If empty, the gasoline-powered generator produces the electric power to continue your trip.”

But why should a potential Volt buyer go to M-way rather than their nearest Chevrolet car dealer? “In addition to the standard information on the vehicle and offering test drives, we can provide potential clients a free consultation on charging structure at home or at work and if necessary, even an analysis of its existing electrical installation,” argues Hans-Joerg Dohrmann.

In addition, M-way claims independence, an important argument in the e-mobility business as the Volt will not be the only full-blown e-car. In the next few months, several models of other reputed brands are to be expected.

Therefore the two existing M-way mobility shops in Zurich and St. Gallen are not enough and the company is expanding rapidly. At the presentation of the Chevrolet Volt, M-way announced the opening of the next shop in Geneva on Dec. 8. After that Lausanne will follow suit next March, Basel in July, and Berne within one year.
