Felt Recalls Breaking Forks

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – Felt has issued a voluntary recall of three of its 2009 carbon triathlon models due to breaking forks which were made in China.

The triathlon bikes involved in the recall are the B12, B16 and S32. According to Felt seven incidents have been reported in the USA, of which one involved minor injuries.

As a result of the breaking forks the product Felt has decided to call upon consumers that purchased one of the triathlon bikes to get in touch with their dealers.

Felt spokesman Michael Müllmann states that: "All bicycles are brought to the market only if they meet or exceed the relevant national standards, such as CPSC in the USA, AS for Australia, JS for Japan, and EN for Europe. All the above mentioned bicycles B12, B16 and S32 have passed and exceeded the applicable EN tests, as well as all other national standards. Unfortunately, labor tests as performed for any of the above mentioned standards, still do not mirror every day riding or even performance riding in every aspect."

As of today, Felt has exchanged over 50% of the produced forks. "As more forks get produced right now, we hope to have completed this huge task of exchanging all the forks by the end of September at the latest", says Müllmann.
