Huge Number of Entries at Eurobike Award

This year there were a total of 565 entries for the annual Eurobike Award. 148 of them were concepts made by students and not 'adult' submissions. Of a total of 417 entries, 92 were presented a Eurobike award. This boils down to almost one quarter! This raises questions on the value of an award. Moreover, next to the regular awards, also Golden Award were granted and, established last year, one Green Award.

Many established names were again taking part. Companies such as Shimano, Continental, Busch & Mǖller, Ortlieb, Selle Royal, ABUS can count on an award almost every year and usually receive 2 or 3.

This year the jury praised the attention to detail at lots of entries. The jury also judged that many designers develop accessory-solutions, particularly for urban bikes. They further noted the rapidly developments in increasingly complex materials. The student submissions were praised as they stood out with original designs.
