COLOGNE, Germany - Intermot’s new e-motion segment underscores the sector’s expertise in the area of future-orientated mobility. Last week at the Intermot Cologne the electrically powered two-wheelers, formed for the first time an appropriate intersection between motorised and non-motorised two-wheelers.

More than 120 suppliers in Hall 5.2 and almost 350 brands throughout Intermot Cologne presented new products and innovations for light electric vehicles like pedelecs and e-Bikes, but also for e-scooters and e-motorcycles.

The manufacturers of electric vehicles registered a very encouraging visitor turnout from the very first day of the fair and also in particular enjoyed extensive press coverage in the daily media, which put the spotlight on electric mobility as a vital issue for the future. The visitor turnout was therefore also correspondingly great at the test track, with its diverse range of attractions. Intermot Cologne even featured the first LEV and electric scooter world championships, which took place at an especially constructed racetrack.

Electric mobility was also the topic of various symposiums and conferences, including the LEV Conference in cooperation with ExtraEnergy.org and the e-congress addressing the topic of electric power for short-range mobility, organized in collaboration with the Bicycle-Friendly Towns and Municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia Working Group.

Including estimates for the last day of the fair, more than 195,000 buyers and visitors from 108 countries came to Intermot Cologne 2010 although it is difficult to guess how many people especially came for the e-motion segment.
