JD Responds To Growing Demand for Compact E-Bikes

The JD Group, a major manufacturer of bicycle components and leading developer of electric technology for electric bicycles, offers a compact folding e-bike option to cater to the increasing trend towards individual and special-demand e-bike solutions. JD’s Folding Bike is thus growing in popularity and, with a significant number of new customers in 2012, will play a more important role in the international bicycle market.

More and more customers within the bicycle industry have begun to rely on energized folding bicycles. Already in 2011, ZEG had implemented the TranzX PST Folding Bike into its program as a focus for its summer trade. For the 2012 season, many additional OEM clients and bicycle manufacturers will follow in the same pursuit. Through BBF, Hartje, Matra, Oxford and Buzaglo, the TranzX PST Folding Bike will be available next year in Germany, Belgium and France.
The TranzX PST Folding Bike has already received very positive feedback in France and Germany. During the Paris Cycle Show 2011 (Salon du Cycle de Paris), Matra presented its own Matra FX model, which is based on JD’s original Folding Bike, and received the renowned “Grand Prix des Vélos de Ville 2012” award (City Bike of the year 2012) in the category of folding bikes. In addition, the highly-circulated German bicycle magazine, ‘FahrradNews’, recently rated the TranzX PST Folding Bike as a very successful e-bike. Within a comprehensive on-road test, the folding model performed with a high level of practicality and riding comfort.

The TranzX PST Folding Bike offers an ideal mix of versatility, compactness, convenience, and a powerful drive system. The easy folding mechanisms, located on the bike’s main tube and handlebar, allow the bike to be folded or unfolded within a few seconds. When folded, it is approximately 74 x 79 x 37cm (H / L / W) in size and therefore even fits into the backs of small cars. The total weight is 19.8 Kg.

Unlike conventional folding bikes, the battery is not attached to the main or seat tube of the frame, but is stylishly incorporated into a small luggage carrier at the back of the bike. This conveniently doubles as a lockable battery compartment as well as a luggage carrier to transport smaller bags. The 36V 6.6Ah Li-Ion rechargeable battery provides powerful support for distances up to 40 kilometers.

Other components can be equipped for individual OEM demands and can be easily and flexibly combined. The 250 Watt hub motor is available for the front or rear wheels, the gear system can be a hub or derailleur (3 or 7 speeds), and a variety of control panels as well as brake systems are available.
