ESSEN, Germany (15 January) - In 2001 Karstadt-Quelle AG increased its turnover in 2001 with 4% to a total of € 15.9 billion. These sales include stationary sales of € 8 billion (+5.6% ). The German retail giant's mail order business (Quelle and Neckermann) grew with 1.3% to € 7.7 billion. B2C-sales (internet) nearly doubled to a total of € 800 million. The company's e-sector sales indicate that the "classic" mail order suppliers with a stationary base are doing best in the virtual business. Not only Karstadt-Quelle AG but also other mail order giants like Otto Versand or specialty mail order suppliers like Sport Scheck (a 100% subsidiary of Otto) or Bicycles Raeder AG are reporting risinge-commerce sales.
