NEW DELHI, India--French tire major Michelin will decide whether it will enter the Indian market in the next three months. The company has already shortlisted the list of states where it is considering setting up a production site to Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka.
According to Michelin communication director of Asia Pacific Derek Brown, the company will initially manufacture tires for the car and truck sectors, and will later consider producing tires for two-wheelers. "It is still too early to comment on that segment." However, he did mentioned that because Michelin operates in the high-end market for two-wheeler tires the current scope in the Indian market offers little opportunity for the time being. (SH)
