Mobiky’s 2012 range offers electrical and non electrical folding bikes which are available in two wheel sizes: 12 and 16 inches. The electric folders are the company’s best-sellers. They come with two types of batteries: a 5.5 Amp one that has a range of 15-20 hours and an 11 Amp one with a range of 40 hours, which suits daily use.
Mobiky’s production was originally based in China. As the French company Mobiky-Tech wanted to ensure impeccable quality to its customers, in 2010 it was decided to repatriate the main production process to Saint-Lô in Normandy, France. Here Mobiky’s R&D, production, sales, after-sales and marketing/communication departments are located.
In a press release Mobiky-Tech says about the relocation of the production: “Production in a European country like France is pretty expensive, not only because of labour costs, but also because bad products are not tolerated. A Mobiky folding bike has to be both reliable and innovative. Therefore Mobiky-Tech do not have the same price range as products made in China or Taiwan. We consider that being competitive is not only a price issue. Our job is not about making big volumes and pulling prices down that might sacrifice quality. We do think that to be a good deal, not only for customers but also for the bike industry in general.”
