BERLIN, Germany – The first Velo-Berlin Show is to kick off with an international mobility conference. Theme of the conference is: Metro-Mobile, urban mobility.
Mobility is changing the cities. Metropolitan areas like London, New York or Paris have been investing substantial amounts in bike lanes and bike rental concepts. Studies show how young people tend away from personal possession like cars, to individually compiled mobility solutions. New technologies and business models show the way to a future of increasing electrification of mobility systems.
Speakers such as Klaus Bondam, once Mayor of Copenhagen, Tom Bogdanowicz of the London Cycling Campaign and Dr. Friedemann of the Berlin Traffic Department will present opportunities and challenges from an urban planning perspective. The filmmaker Mikael Collville-Anderson, owner of the blog Copenhagen Cycle Chic which caused a sensation worldwide will give an outline of the bicycle as a lifestyle object.
Prior to the conference the German industry organizations ZIV and VSF will present the latest sales statistics of the German bicycle market. A detailed program is available at www.veloberlin.com
The Metro-Mobile, urban mobility conference is organized on 25 March in the Marshall-House at the Berlin fair ground. The Velo-Berlin Show takes place on 25 and 26 March, 2011.
