SAN DIEGO, US – After the manufacturing changeover which was completed last June the NuVinci planetary (CVP) transmission for bicycles and light electric vehicles are now also for marketing and sales entering a new phase in Europe.
Fallbrook Technologies Inc., owner of all patents for the NuVinci gear hub, appointed Dutchman Jack Brandsen (see photo) as its new representative to handle the European operation. Brandsen has more than 20 years of sales and business management experience in several industries.
Prior to joining Fallbrook, Jack managed a cash management sales group and developed large international cash management solutions for several multinational companies. He holds a degree in Higher Business Economics from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Europe is very important
“We are delighted to have Jack Brandsen on our team,” said Alan M. Nordin, Fallbrook’s vice president of sales and business development. “Our market in Europe is very important to us and expanding rapidly. We are offering manufacturers some innovative new programs to help grow their business by bringing NuVinci-equipped vehicles to market and expanding their sales. Jack is well qualified to introduce and support these programs.”
Since last June the NuVinci continuously variable planetary gear hub are made at MTD Products Inc in Leitchfield, Kentucky in the US. With that Fallbrook Technologies completed the manufacturing changeover after its former manufacturing licensee, Aftermarket Technology Corp. ended production mid-March 2008.
For the next five years the planetary (CVP) transmission for bicycles, light electric vehicles (LEVs) and other devices, will be produced by MTD Products. This is an American company that produces gearboxes for outdoor power equipment like lawn mowers and utility vehicles.
This manufacturing capability will enable Fallbrook to meet the growing demand for NuVinci hubs, which are now built into over 40 bike models produced under more than 20 OEM brand names worldwide.
