BRUSSELS, Belgium - D'Ieteren Sport, a multi-billion euro, stock-listed importer with representations including VW, Audi and Yamaha, sets its focus full on electric bicycles. With the new company D'Ieteren Sport Light Electric Vehicles it starts the European wide distribution of the e-Solex which is offered next to other e-bike brands.

D'Ieteren Sport’s goal is: “To invest its long term experience in the market for powered two-wheelers with Yamaha and MBK into the light electric vehicle sector. As the service aspect is still being underrated in the rapidly growing sales of electric bikes, D'Ieteren Sport is to excel in this part of the business,” says a press release of the company.

The Belgian import company is to use the Solex brand name for its new light electric vehicle business. This brand name still offers awareness at many Europeans as there are a big 8 million first generation Solex mopeds sold in Europe in the sixties, seventies and eighties.

D'Ieteren Sport is looking for distributors in a lot of European countries for its e-Solex range. This range consists of the e-Solex and the VeloSolex which got their look from none other than top designer Pininfarina. The e-Solex is available in two versions, as 25 km/h model and as a 45 km/h moped. Both have no pedals, but are ‘twist-and-go’ models that need homologation. Recommended retail price stands at €1.695.

The VeloSolex is a regular pedal assisted electric folding bike priced at €1.495. A second VeloSolex model is to follow soon with a fixed, unisex frame which will become available in two versions with one being a shaft-drive model.

Next to the electric Solex bikes, for which D'Ieteren Sports holds the distribution rights for the whole of Europe, the company represents three other brands in the Benelux countries. They are Ultra Motor, Fast4Ward and D-Cycle. With these brands the import company covers all price segments, from € 2.990 with the Ultra Motor A2B; the mid-price ranges with the Fast4Ward models while the entry-level is covered by the D-Cycle branded bikes that start retail at €1.075.
