LOKEREN, Belgium (October 20th) - Federvelo, the Belgium federation of manufactures and importers of bicycles raises a passionate appeal to the end-users of bikes. Triggered by a sales promotion at 'Carrefour' hypermarkets, in which an ATB is offered for just €60 (!) the federation urges consumers not to buy this bike. Stating that a bicycle is a participant in traffic and should be of acceptable quality and above all safe, they firmly reject the idea of a supermarket model at this price. Also the D.I.Y. involved in assembling the bike is cause for concern…a statement which all IBD's will embrace! (MH) source:Media Surplus-Belgium
