Seattle Bike Supply is launching two new Redline bicycles specially designed for kids, as part of the “Fight Childhood Obesity” program. The Redline Conquest 20 and Conquest 24 are light-weight and well-designed road/cross bikes with anatomically designed shifters and brake levers for smaller hands, as well as proportionately shorter crank arm lengths.
The gearing is calculated with both bike path and trails in mind. Combined with lightweight butted aluminium frames, the company says the bikes will make a big difference for younger riders, giving kids the feeling they can ride like a pro.
The Conquest 20 is a 14 speed model designed for the 6 to 10 year old. It features a double 38-32T, 152 millimetre crank and Shimano Altus drivetrain. The SRAM MRX Twist 7-speed shifters make the bike’s gear shifting easy to handle.
The Conquest 20 weights just 9.1 kilogram. For bigger kids up to roughly 13 years old, the Conquest 24 has a similar specification in a slightly larger design.
