Rigida, one of the biggest makers of rims and wheelsets in the world has recently changed its brand name to Ryde. Under the new brand name the company offers two race proven wheelsets in its comprehensive 2011 range. For road racing there is the Carat RC1. This wheelset is successfully used by several famous French and German racing teams. It’s a lightweight racingwheelset for riding the mountains and offers nervous but comfortable properties and is reliable for training and for competition.

The straight lacing on the front wheel guarantees the rigidity and the road control. The rear wheel gear side lacing is 3 times crossed and the rear wheel non gear side is straight pull which guarantees maximum rigidity and pedalling response. For creating maximum strength combined with light weight the hubs are made of aluminium with a carbon fibre layer.

Front wheel has 20 spokes; rear wheel 24. Rims are Alloy T10 Black. The rear wheel hub is made from carbon fibre and has 4 sealed bearings. The front wheel hub is also carbon fibre with 2 sealed bearings. The spokes are Sapim CX RAY with inverted nipples. The weight of the Carat RC1 wheelset stands at 1,345 grams. Recommended retail price is €550.00.

For free ride, enduro as well as downhill use Ryde developed the Beasty HR2. Miryam Nicole, European Champion 2010, Ludovic Oget, French junior champion 2008, 2009, 2010 are riding on the Beasty HR2, as well as the Ryde team, ranked number 3 in the 2010 World Cup. This wheelset can also be equipped with tubeless tyres by mounting an additional (patented) sealing system which was awarded in 2008.

The Beasty is light and strong, weighing less than 2 kg. Both wheels have 32 spokes, triple crossed. The front wheel is available in: 9mm, 15mm, and 20mm axle sizes, while the rear wheel is available in: 150mm x 12mm, 135mm x 10mm, 135mm x 12mm axle configurations. The tubeless seal is included in the wheelset. The rear wheel comes with an anodized blue 4 sealed bearing sealed hub. The front hub has a 2 sealed bearing set up. Spokes come from Sapim. Weight stands at 1,990 grams and the recommended retail price is €450.00.
