Online Sales Take 9 percent of UK Retail Market

LONDON, UK – The overall UK online retail market will value a total amount of 32.88 billion euro at the end of this year. According to Forrester Research the online sales take 9% of UK retail market in 2011. The United Kingdom ranks number one in online retailing of all European countries.

The food market takes some 20% of all sales via webshops while consumer electronics as well as clothing capture both 19%. According to Forrester Research all major supermarkets and retailers have a strong online presence in the UK.

Forrester Research adds that well known actors like Amazon ASOS and Play.com have contributed considerable to consumer confidence in online retailing. Nevertheless websites of multichannel retailers like Tesco, Argos and Marks & Spencer get the most visits.
