LAGUNA NIGUEL/CA, USA – After he left Scott-USA last December former GM Scott Montgomery is back in the bike biz. Lifeboat Events – organizer of the new US cycling industry events PressCamp, DealerCamp and Urban PressCamp – announces that Scott Montgomery joined the company full-time and also made a substantial financial investment into the company. The scope and details of the investment remain confidential.

According to a press release Montgomery serves now as company chairman, working on strategic direction, expanding the Lifeboat Events brand outside North America, and other day-to-day growth issues.

Montgomery participated with Scott Bicycles in both PressCamp and DealerCamp, two of the three events created by Lifeboat Events. Lance Camisasca president of Lifeboat Events says: “People have been responding so well to what we’re offering that we have been a little worried about our ability to handle our growth. Scott is coming along at the right time. It was great to work with Scott as a client because he quickly understood our approach. Now that Scott is part of the crew, we’re much better equipped to master our objectives.”

Next to working successfully on the comeback of Scott Bicycles in the US from 2005 to 2010, the son of Cannondale founder Joe Montgomery also introduced the Cannondale brand in Japan and Europe. His international contacts will help Lifeboat Events to grow also internationally.

Scott Montgomery: “I recognize there is a big need for more alternative events to serve the cycling community both here and throughout the world. I believe that the team Lance has put together is going to change the status quo and, having grown brands for many years on three continents, I feel that this opportunity could have a big impact on the future industry.”
