PARIS, France - Riders with Shimano equipped bikes celebrated great successes at this year’s Tour de France. The yellow jersey was for Cadel Evans (BMC Racing Team), accompanied on the podium by two Luxembourg brothers: Andy and Fränk Schleck (team Leopard-Trek) who tried everything but did not succeed in breaking the power of the Australian former world champion.
Even though these three men can be regarded as completely different riders, they also have one thing in common: all three were using Shimano’s top level Dura-Ace components with Di2 electronic shifting technology.
Not only Evens and the Schleck brothers were using Di2, also the British sprint star and winner of the green jersey Mark Cavendish (team HTC-Highroad) was equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 as well as his own PRO Star Series combination. His team mate Tony Martin won the time trial by using a PRO aero bar. To finalize Shimano’s sportive success in this year’s Tour de France, Samuel Sanchez (team Euskaltel-Euskadi) won the polka dot jersey as best climber.
