Toyo Shimano Rocking at Eurobike Party Fundraising Concert

FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – Toyo Shimano, son of Shimano‘s chairman of the board, and the rock band ‘Breakaways’ will present a charity concert at the start of the Eurobike Party on Friday evening September 2nd. This very special concert is a fundraiser for children who became a victim of the march 11 eartquake and tsunami in Japan.

On 11 March 2011 the world hold its breath and turned its eyes in horror, but also full of compassion to Japan, where the earthquake and tsunami came across the country and its people. For the victims the tragedy is still everyday’s life. Especially for the most vulnerable, the children.

Under the theme ‘Bicycle Helps’ Paul Lange & Co. OHG, Shimano, the German bicycle industry Association (ZIV) and Messe Friedrichshafen want to help to alleviate the hardship and suffering of these children and give them literally a new roof over their heads. The concert by Toyo Shimano and his rock band is to raise money for the orphanage ‘Fuji no Sono’ in Ichinoseki.

All donations of the benefit concert will be handed over to the Malteser charity organization and will be to the full benefit of the children’s home ‘Fuji no sono’ in Ichinoseki. Led by the German Franciscaner sister Kanerin Caelina the orphanage was devastated shortly before its 50th anniversary. Although the 70 children could return safely after a short stay in a shared accommodation in the provisional reconditioned house, the damage to the building is so devastating that a complete new building is inevitable.
