LONDON, UK - The British manufacturer of the A2B electric bikes, Ultra Motor UK Ltd., is going to supply pedelec, e-Bike and e-Scooter propulsion systems to bike brands from 2011. Instead of supplying the mass market, Ultra Motor intends to develop customized systems for specific applications. With motors made in Taiwan, Ultra Motor is one of quite a few newcomers in the LEV drive system business.

As a second business branch Ultra Motor is going to provide complete propulsion solutions to other vehicle brands. Ultra Motor is focusing on a small number of customers to close long-term strategic business partnerships with. The target of such cooperation is to precisely adapt the propulsion system to the specific needs of each customer and vehicle application.

Ultra Motor is going to launch first applications of their new propulsion system at this year's Eurobike in Friedrichshafen. The standard system comes with a brushless and gearless 250 watt rear hub motor that runs at 36 volts and weighs 4.5 kgs. The controller, which is mounted inside the motor aluminum case, supports regenerative braking and is CAN bus capable.

The Ultra Motor system includes a bottom bracket torque sensor, a handlebar display that can be custom designed and an external wiring harness, which incorporates all power and signal leads. The battery case can be custom designed and the battery cells packed accordingly.
The entire system is designed to be flexible in appearance and technical specifications in order to be adapted to different customer and vehicle needs. It can operate as a pedelec system or propel a vehicle by using power on demand.

At the current state of development the motor output can be between 250 and 2000 watts and operate on 24 - 48 volts. Motors can be geared or gearless. The Ultra Motor management expects first systems to be on the market in 2011. Other applications are still under development and will be launched after Eurobike. Ultra Motor is in the Zeppelin Hall at stand 200.
