BEIJING, China – Is the World Trade Organization (WTO) becoming involved in the anti-dumping case on bicycles imported from China into the EU? That’s the question after reports published in the China Daily.
In these reports Robert Maclean is quoted. He has been conducting the anti-dumping case on behalf of Chinese Chamber of Commerce for Imports and Exports of Machinery and Electronic Products for many years. He said the EU's case was weak and that’s a pity to see the anti-dumping duties extended from three years to five years.
"The EU has made a terrible decision," he said, recommending China to submit the case to the World Trade Organization. At this moment it is not yet clear if the Chinese government will follow this recommendation. It is expected that next October a new 5 year term of 48.5% anti-dumping duties on imported Chinese bicycles will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union with which they will go into effect.
