AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – On February 24 Bike Europe published a news item that headed: ‘Rumours on WTB’. This was followed the same day by ‘Update on WTB’. On these news items we received the following statement from WTB President Patrick Seidler:

“Wilderness Trail Bikes (“WTB”) has been the recent recipient of some unwelcome and inaccurate rumor-spreading, requiring WTB to set the record straight. It started with a paragraph in Bike Europe, wrongly stating that members of our race team, Team WTB, including our longtime Team Manager Mark Weir, had left WTB. This is simply false."

"The confusion may come from the fact that Team WTB switched frame sponsors and we’re now on Cannondale. Unfortunately, the story was not fact-checked and has been picked up elsewhere. The Bike Europe article also erroneously suggests that several of the staff is leaving WTB Europe."

In fact, the sole departure from WTB Europe since Summer 2010 through the present was by arrangement. All other WTB Europe staff is in place, solid and excited about the coming season. “We have other news, and it’s also positive: we recently relocated the WTB Europe office to downtown Pilzen in the Czech Republic and promoted two great staffers, Peter Ladman and Lorenzo Parini, to run the office. Peter has been with WTB Europe for over three years and Lorenzo has been with WTB for over six years.

The problem with rumors like this is that they have a way of living on, especially online, so I want to be clear:

  1. Team WTB is doing great led by Team Manager Mark Weir. You can check out Team WTB’s latest updates from racing in Africa at www.wtb.com.
  2. Veteran WTB Europe staff is in place, solid and geared up for the current season.
  3. WTB Europe has a new office in new downtown Pilzen located at Perlova 9, 301 00 Pilzen, Czech Republic. Anyone with questions is welcome to contact me: pseidler@wtb.com.”
