COLOGNE, Germany – The biggest bike retail organization in Europe, the German ZEG, is organizing a house show for its member/dealers next August. With that they are entering the rat race for dealer orders that is causing shifts in the buying time line of the European bike sector.
All the members of ZEG are invited to the head office in Cologne between 15th until 17th of August. This was reported by the German website Velobiz.
Remarkably ZEG suppliers have not been invited to exhibit at the house show. This indicates that only the ZEG private bike labels will be presented to the members of the retail organization. This provides ZEG the opportunity, as said by Velobiz, to enter into competition with the dealer shows held by its bike suppliers.
In the past the ZEG members issued their orders for private label collection for the next season only after they had visited the shows of the bike manufacturers. The retail organization is entering direct competition with its suppliers by changing the order date for their private label collection,
Also the new ZEG house show raises questions on the IFMA as ZEG member/dealers have always been representing a substantial part of the IFMA visitors. The annual show in Cologne was also the location for the annual general meeting of the ZEG members as well as the presentation and order show of the private label collection. The question is will the ZEG members now visit the private label show in August as well as the IFMA in September?
