Resurrection of Manitou MRD forks
Manitou is back into the high-end fork market in 2008 with the resurrection of the MRD (Manitou Research and Development) line. The lightest fork in the line, the R7 MRD, is made in the USA of all machined metal components and tips the scales at only 1.2 kilograms in the 100 millimetre travel version. The R7 MRD is also available in 80 millimetres.
Manitou’s other 2008 MRD offering is the all new Minute MRD. With features similar to the R7 MRD, the Minute is also built in Manitou’s Valencia, facility in the USA and boasts a remarkably light weight of 1.4 kilograms with 32 millimetre stanchions and 130 millimetre of travel (100 millimetres also available).
The Minute MRD will be available with either a cartridge TPC damper or with the new Absolute Damping System. Absolute Damping ranges from wide open to fully closed in six distinct clicks, with the four intermediate settings corresponding to varying degrees of platform.
Manitou’s first fork into the exploding 29er market is built on the popular Minute platform, a fittingly versatile trail fork. The air-sprung Minute 29er weights 1.7 kilograms and is available with 80, 100, or 120 millimetres of travel.
