The Future of Bike Helmets
Will this new helmet design change the attitude of bikers towards wearing helmets? It has become quite common to use a bicycle helmet when mountainbiking or road racing. There bikers prefers the functionality and safety and nobody looks puzzled any longer when somebody wears a helmets when mountainbiking or road racing.
That’s completely the opposite when people ride their City or Trekking bike. Here bike helmets have a bad image. The colours and shapes are ‘something you don’t want to be seen with’. Over the years countries that have implemented an obligation to wear a helmet when biking have shown a dramatic drop in the use of bicycles in the city and for commuting.
The patented models designed by the Danish agency Yakkay might change this attitude. Yakkay has come up with a unique concept for bicycle helmets where safety requirements and style are united and equally valued. The model of the helmet is standard and available in different sizes.
The cover comes in many different styling, sizes colours and came be updated depending of fashion and styling. Anybody who is using any sort of head wear in the city can now ride his bike with a safe helmet without the looks of a ‘Tour de France roadracer’. The acceptance of the use of a bicycle helmet might grow substantially through this concept. The Yakkay helmet is mainly distributed in Danmark and in some other bike shops around Europe.
