ION technology, initially developed by Accell Group subsidiary Sparta, laid the foundation for the continuing growth of e-Bike sales in the Netherlands. Proven technology and the quality of the pedalling assist are two important aspects of e-Bikes and the Accell group has built a strong knowledge base with the successful ION.
The dedicated software has been developed for the ION models in order to optimize the drive capability. As well as Sparta, the ION technology has also been applied to the e-Bike models of the Dutch brands Batavus and Koga. Initially a rear drive system, today ION is also available with front drive technology in combination with a gear hub.
The ION is best known for its ‘clean’ design with the battery inside the down tube, giving the appearance of a standard bike. Today the ION also features a detachable battery for more convenient recharging.
