The biggest news at this year’s Shanghai Show came from the world’s biggest name in bikes. Giant launched its newest e-Bike or should we say e-Scooter? Pictured here is that new model called e-Fem.

It is, as Giant CEO Tony Lo indicated at the Shanghai Show to Bike Europe: “A light e-Scooter which tends more towards electric bikes than to a big scooter. And as such it is an obvious continuation of our development in electric two-wheelers which we already for some years now are selling here in China.”

Despite Tony Lo’s claims, Giant’s e-Fem stands out when comparing it to the average e-Bike. And that raises the question whether Giant is now also stepping into other categories of e-vehicles and whether the company intends to sell this scooter in Europe through its dealers?

For those dealers Giant also launched in Shanghai a new e-Bike. It is a unisex model targeted to ladies as well as gents and one that makes use of the new e-Bike system launched by SR Suntour at the Taipei Cycle Show which took place last March. Whether this e-Bike model as well as the Giant e-Scooter will reach the European markets is yet unknown.
