The designers Lutz Kucher and Alexander Thusbass had a similar philosophy when designing the town:exp for Winora. Its 20” wheels should guarantee maximum flexibility in city traffic. The riding position should remain the same as on a 28” bike to ensure a comfortable ride.
As the name expresses, the town:exp is a means of urban mobility. Riding it is an experience. (That’s what the “xp” stands for.) Single-tube design, die-cast aluminium wheels and the choice of bright colours give the vehicle its individual look; although it is brings to mind the TranzX Eagle that was launched at Bike Expo and won the Eurobike Award this year.
That’s simply due to the fact that town:exp uses the same TranzX drive system as the Eagle by Taiwanese manufacturer JD Components. The TranzX 250-watt motor is hidden in the rear hub of all three models and the waterproof battery box contains a 10Ah 36V lithium polymer battery that provides up to 90 km of range, according to the manufacturer.
The retail price of the town:exp is supposed to be no higher than €1,999 and will be available in March 2010. Winora uses a customer registration service through the online service at CODE-No.com which, at the same time protects the vehicle from theft.
At Eurobike, Winora also introduced their Mionic 2010 series: five pedelec models with the TranzX PST drive and the battery on the rear rack. The Mionic line ranges from €1,699 to €2,499 retail. With the same TranzX system, Hercules presents a new, tastefully coloured product line.
