In its strive to make the best possible carbon wheelset, Taiwanese producer Pro-Lite has developed the Rome 5-spoke carbon wheel. According to Pro-Lite a 5 spoke concept has several advantages.

Above all, it is stronger than any of its predecessors. Another important benefit is the aerodynamics. Many devices are used on standard wheels to reduce the drag generated by the turbulence of dozens of spokes ripping through the air. This is no longer necessary thanks to modern knowledge passed down from the aerospace industry. This know-how has been implemented on an aerodynamically neutral profile that minimizes air resistance, even when spinning.

As a pioneer in carbon disc wheels Pro-Lite pays a lot of attention on quality during the production process. The Taiwanese company is still convinced that the quality of hand-built wheels is better than the ones made with the help of a machine. Therefore each spoke has to be checked six times for tension during the building process and 40% of the production is rejected during quality control as they are more than 0.05 millimetres out of true.
