CHICAGO, US - Sponsoring Lance Armstrong raised SRAM’s visibility in the road race market. To capitalize on this notoriety and widen its market position, SRAM developed a brand new entry-level group set. Until now SRAM had three levels of group sets, the Red, the Force, and the Rival, as well as the non-series, on the market.

This line up has now been extended with the Apex. As with the other three road race group sets, the new Apex has the same technical features as the top level Red, such as DoubleTap (one lever two shifts), Reach Adjust (for custom lever fit), Exact Actuation (for consistent and precise shifts), and Zero-Loss shifting (for immediate shift engagement).

The only difference between the group sets is choice of materials and machinery used for production. The Apex has a remarkable broad gear ratio, as it is available in a compact road gear combination 50/34T crank set with an 11/32T sprocket.

Apex has a sleek jet black gloss finish giving it a professional look and feel. The ergonomic shape of the custom shift levers improves comfort and control. The front derailleur can be set up for both standard and compact chainrings. SRAM Apex’s forged alloy brakeset is a minimized dual pivot design that delivers consistent brake power.

SRAM Apex will be available in Spring 2010.
