The ownership of unit wise the biggest bike maker in Germany – Mitteldeutsche Fahrradwerke AG; better known as Mifa – changed recently. The company is now owned by investor Carsten Maschmeyer.

Mifa Ownership Changed Hands

SANGERHAUSEN, Germany – The ownership of unit wise the biggest bike maker in Germany – Mitteldeutsche Fahrradwerke AG; better known as Mifa – changed recently. The company is now owned by investor Carsten Maschmeyer.

Last October Carsten Maschmeyer already acquired a 28.65% stake in the German bike maker that specializes in the assembly of entry to mid level bikes for big retail chains. Recently Maschmeyer bought another over 4% of the company shares which brings his ownership of the company to over 33%. With that stake he is the biggest shareholder.

Doubled company value
Next to Maschmeyer also Mifa CEO Peter Wicht bought more Mifa shares. He increased his 29.1% share to a total of over 30%. According to a press release the value of the company doubled since Maschmeyer’s involvement in Mifa up to a total of approximately 65 million euro. Mifa claims that it is unit-wise the largest bicycle producer in Germany and is ready for further growth in the 2012 season; in particular with e-bikes.
