Production Start for SRAM’s 8-Speed IHG
SRAM has launched the new 8-speed hub at Eurobike this year, the G8. Markus Schneider (photo), category manager IHG at SRAM, shows the new 8-speed hub which is not just a hub with an additional gear but an all new development.
“This innovation is a new way to shift an IHG”, said Schneider. “That’s one of the main features.”
“The annual market of bicycles for urban usage amounts up to about 140 million units from yearly global bike production of about 151 million”, said SRAM Corp. CEO Stan Day during the SRAM presentation at Eurobike. “That’s a huge majority and the introduction of the G8 is part of our commitment to urban cycling.”
Numerous bicycle manufacturers showed G8 pre-production versions of their MY 2013 bikes. Early October SRAM will start with the production of this IHG in their new factory in Taichung, Taiwan which has been especially built for SRAM’s new generation internal hub gears.
