ZEG’s total turnover over 2012 amounted €491.3 m, an increase of €35.8 m, or 7.9%. “That is significantly more than average in the bicycle industry”, said ZEG CEO Georg Honkomp. “It is worth mentioning that our sales results in the Netherlands showed a significant increase, contrary to the declining market.”

Double digit growth in e-bike sales
Remarkably ZEG sold approximately the same number of bicycles as in 2011, but booked a double digit growth in e-bike sales. “Our clear focus on market demand, the high quality standards of our products at reasonable prices in combination with the involvement of the ZEG member retailers paid off with this record turnover”, stated Honkomp.

“Since the mobility importance of bikes is growing, while environmental, health and economy issues also come into play, it is our aim to create the right conditions for cycling with safe products. We improved the quality of our products substantially thanks to the suggestions we got from the recently formed ‘quality council'”.

The Cologne based ZEG dealer cooperative is the largest in Europe with over 1,000 members in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, France, Switzerland, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
