FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – Next to Bosch there’s another automotive giant seeing the potential electric bikes hold for individual and/or last mile mobility in urban areas. At Eurobike 2013 the company is presenting its systems that is claimed to be smaller, more powerful at lighter weight compared to all other current systems.

Continental is launching its complete drive system that comprises of a small 3.4 kgs mid-motor, display, control unit and battery.

At Hall A6 at booth 303 Continental is launching its complete drive system that comprises of a small 3.4 kgs mid-motor, display, control unit and battery. Continental calls it a modular system which the company developed in cooperation with Benchmark Drives. This company debuted the AEG drive system for e-bikes at Eurobike last year of which Continental says that it brought the system to production maturity. In its press release Continental also claims that it will set up its own service network for, “Actively supporting OEMs and distributors.”
