YUALIN, Taiwan – “We embrace the e-bike,” said Alan Clark, Kenda’s Global Bicycle Tyre Development Director this fall. Although the US market for the tyre manufacturer is still bigger in volume than Europe, Kenda decided to change its company strategy.

“We do have a global program but thanks to the success the e-MTB people find new ways to mountainbiking,” stated Alan Clark. “Particularly in Europe new MTB categories pop up and this market continues to expand. But we think that what works in Europe, is also good for the US market. That has indeed been different in the past.”

K.Armor technology

In its new program Kenda implemented the in-house developed K.Armor technology even further in its e-bike range. According to Clark, “the K.Armor technology has many advantages over the use of kevlar.”

K.Armor is much stronger but also much more flexible compared to kevlar. Thanks to its flexibility, the rolling resistance of K.Armor reinforced tyres is considerably lower while the strength of the tread as well as the sidewall have been improved significantly.
