AMERSFOORT, Netherlands (13 June 2000)óTrek will not be exhibiting at this year’s Eurobike Show. Due partially to all the chaos surrounding the September show marathon, the American bike maker has decided to organize its own exhibition to show off the newest Trek, Klein, Gary Fisher and Bontrager products to its German, Austrian and Swiss dealers. Trek’s show will be held from 25 to 30 August at Hotel Eibsee near Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany. The date of the show leaves room for dealers to attend the Eurobike Show, which will be held from 31 August to 3 September in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
City and trekking bikes will undoubtedly play an important role at the firm’s show since, according to Trek Europe director Malcolm Davies, this is where Trek’s growth potential lies in the coming years. By tapping into the city and trekking bike segments Davies is also aware that Trek is entering an area dominated by European brands.
The June/July issue of Bike Europe features a detailed interview with Davies about Trek’s ambitions in Europe. (JO/JW)
