FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – The Eurobike is bigger and better than ever: exhibitors from 36 countries, from Europe, Asia, Africa and the US. A grand total of 761 companies (for 200 of them a first-time visit) will show their wares in the exhibition halls. This means an overall growth of some 15%. Lightweight seems to be a trend too: after years of equipping bikes with everything AND the kitchen sink, it is now (again) time to shed some pounds. And next to al the high-tech, there is also a trend towards lo-tech: simpleness seems to catch the imagination of more and more designers and consumers. But we will have to wait till Thursday, when the Eurobike opens its gates to trade visitors.(MH)
