TAIPEI, Taiwan – At the press conference held earlier today in Taiwan, the tentative dates for the 2009 Taipei International Cycle Show were unofficially named as 16 19 March 2009. TAIPEI, Taiwan – At the press conference held earlier today in Taiwan, the tentative dates for the 2009 Taipei International Cycle Show were unofficially named as 16 – 19 March 2009.

However, after the press conference TAITRA (organizer of the Taipei Int’l Cycle Show) Vice President Walter Yeh made it clear that he is very aware of all the mini trade shows that took place last week in Taichung, Taiwan. He said that TAITRA will talk to the organizers of these shows as well as to key players and the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters Association (TBEA) how hooking the Taipei Int’l Cycle Show more on to the current spec cycle of the bike industry.

Yeh also stated that it is possible to organize the Taipei Int’l Cycle Show in January or February as long as it is two weeks before of after the Chinese New year. That is always in the first week of February. In January or February no major international shows are on the TAITRA show schedule.

General Meeting TBEA

Yeh emphasized that nothing is fixed yet and that a lot of discussions will follow on this topic that is also in the agenda of the TBEA General Meeting taking place next week in Taichung.

As for the 2008 Taipei Int’l Cycle Show that will take place from 13 – 16 March everything will be ready in the new Nangang hall to host its first international show, which is the cycle show. An indication of how seriously TAITRA is on having everything in shape for its premier show in Nangang: a test event with over 1,500 people will take place there at the end of January.

Show Combination

The 2008 Taipei Int’l Cycle Show and Taipei Int’l Sporting Goods Show (TaiSpo) will take place on the same dates. The TaiSpo will take place in the old TWTC venue. With the combination of the two shows TAITRA wants to provide extra service for international buyers as well as for Taiwanese companies supplying the bike and sporting goods sectors.
