Design Competition Shows Future for Micro Mobility

TAIPEI, Taiwan – On March 13th, the opening day of the Taipei International Cycle Show, the jury of the prestigious International Bicycle Design Competition (IBDC) will announce the award winning design concepts to this year’s IBDC finals. The IBDC is the world’s most important and leading design competition for innovative bicycle designs in the bike industry.

This year’s finals are the 12th in a row, sponsored by the DOIT, MOEA (Department Of Industrial Technology, Ministry Of Economic Affairs, R.O.C.), and organized since 1996 by the CHC (Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center).

In the last 10 years the IBDC has grown into a renowned global platform for new cycling concepts: young, creative and internationally oriented designers present themselves every year again during the IBDC bicycle design contest. Over the years there have been more than 9,000 entries of which the participants are from 86 countries in total.

This competition aims to integrate global design resources so that the lifestyles, consumer behaviour and fashion trends from all over the world can be analyzed and understood. Consequently this will inspire the design philosophy in the bicycle industry, and it will encourage the industry to break with traditions and step into brand new adventures of creativity. This year’s focus of the Design Competition is on the Future for Micro Mobility which of course includes bikes.
