Interbike 2010 to be Opened by US Congressman

LAS VEGAS, USA – Tomorrow morning on Wednesday September 22, Interbike Expo will open its doors for the last time in Las Vegas featuring keynote speaker U.S. Representative and Congressional Bike Caucus founder Earl Blumenauer of Oregon.

Earl Blumenauer is one the US bike industry’s major connections with the national politics as he was a cycling advocate long before he was elected to Congress in 1996. Once in Washington, D.C., he founded the Congressional Bike Caucus.

The group was initially meant to be a fun organization for legislators and their staff who preferred to get around the nation’s capital on two wheels instead of four. But it quickly turned into a bipartisan group of lawmakers committed to working with the cycling community to provide more infrastructure and safer commuting routes for cyclists.

To help create more fun in business and a comfortable atmosphere, Interbike is hosting four lounges on the show floor. These are the Women’s Product Showcase Lounge, the Urban Lounge, the Interbike Networking Lounge and the New Product Lounge.

Two days ahead of the Interbike Expo, the US bike industry traditionally gathers in nearby Boulder City for the Interbike Oudoor Demo. This year, Interbike partnered with Light Electric Vehicle Association (LEVA) to provide new electric bicycle features, including an e-Bike-only paved demo track and the Hill Climb Challenge.

Due to popular demand , the third instalment of Interbike’s "Ready to Ride" fashion show will showcase a broader spectrum of cycling fashion and have two presentations during Interbike 2010. The fashion show will take place on Wednesday, September 22 and Thursday, September 23 at 3:30 p.m. on the main show floor in the Urban Lounge.
