LAS VEGAS, USA – New initiatives pop up in order to influence Nielsen Exhibitions’ policy on Interbike’s direction, location and date. Bob Lickton of Lickton Supply Corporation is heading up the efforts to found an association to represent the interests of exhibitors at Interbike.

“In the aftermath of the recent fiasco surrounding the 2011 Anaheim show, we have realized that exhibitors need to have both a solid influence in the industry and an organization to express its best wishes,” says Lickton on the website of the US trade journal ‘Bicycle Retailer and Industry News’ (BRAIN).

According to Lickton some 60 exhibitors have already listed to join the association. In a letter mailed last week Lickton brings the show dates set for 2011 and 2012 up for discussion. Lickton states that October would be a better timing for Interbike.

“Not only are the early September dates only two weeks after Eurobike, making it hard for exhibitors showing at both shows, for us in the Midwest we are still in our high sales season. From what I know, Interbike can still change to the later dates without a penalty so I started an industry survey to find out the exhibitors preference.”

Interbike show director Andy Tompkins responded on BRAIN’s report by announcing that he was aware of Lickton survey but he also stresses that Nielsen Exhibitions is committed to the 2011 schedule as set.
