FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – This year the Eurobike Show has something to celebrate: the 20th edition. What started in 1991 on a very modest scale, has become by far the largest bike show in the world. And again this year the show in Friedrichshafen is bigger than ever before. This is raising questions on where Eurobike is heading.

A total of 1,100 exhibitors from 42 countries have signed up for the 20th Eurobike, taking place from August 31 till September 3, 2011. Up again on the numbers of last year.

Nowadays, any self-respecting bicycle supplier is present at Eurobike. Or perhaps not. Due to demand, it’s not that easy to rent a booth. Since space is limited the waiting list for companies that have applied for a position is long.

The exhibition complex in Friedrichshafen was already completely filled last year. It will be interesting to see where the show organizers will host this year’s newcomers. Will there be more tents attached to the halls? And will these tents attract the same numbers of visitors as the regular halls?

One thing is already clear even before the 20th Eurobike opens its doors; the biggest bike show on earth has a serious space problem.
