New Bike Europe Presented at Launch Party
TAIPEI, Taiwan – Yesterday late afternoon the completely revamped Bike Europe was officially launched at a party that was visited by the industries’ top managers. At the Canton Restaurant of the Nangang Exhibition Hall the new Bike Europe was presented to René Takens, President of the European industry association COLIBI and CEO of Accell Group.
At a short speech Bike Europe’s editor in chief Jack Oortwijn looked back at the introduction of the trade journal which took place at the 1996 IFMA Cologne Show. At that time there was no party for the launch. However, the introduction of the new international trade publication didn’t go unnoticed.
“People liked it and urged us to turn it into a monthly publication. Now we are 17 years later and have next to a printed magazine also a well visited website and email newsletters in English and in Chinese with thousands of subscribers”, said Jack Oortwijn.
Need to become more flexible
After the presentation of the new Bike Europe to René Takens, the Accell Group CEO and COLIBI President held a short presentation for the about 100 guests that attended Bike Europe’s launch party. He said that this year’s Taipei Cycle clearly indicated what’s desperately needed now throughout the worldwide bike sector.
“We need to become more flexible”, said René Takens. “As dealers are troubled with financing inventory, we get less forecast orders from them. With that the market becomes more and more unpredictable. Faced with this situation all players in the bike sector’s supply chain have to become more flexible in order to be able to tailor production to the dealer’s and consumer’s demand. That must have the highest priority for all of us right now.”
