Intermot Focuses on E-mobility and E-bikes
COLOGNE, Germany – Motorcycles and scooters still will be the main products on display at the 2014 Intermot next October. However, the latest trends and innovations in pedelecs, e-bikes, e-scooters and e-motorcycles will be presented in one hall dedicated to this growth market.
After a successful premiere and the expansion of core area in the years 2010 and 2012, show organizer Koelnmesse continues to focus on the importance of electric vehicles. Among the new exhibitors in the e-motion area of Intermot are well known companies like ZEG, Giant, my Stromer and Polaris. “With the ZEG Koelnmesse could gain a partner with a strong pull for the fair,” says Ingo Riedeberger, Project Manager of the Intermot. But even outside the e-motion hall ‘electric drive’ is an issue, for instance at the booth of BMW who will show their electric models.
The importance of the Intermot e-motion hall in 2012 was shown by the high number of visitors of 100,000 people who were informed on the subject ‘electric mobility on two wheels’ in hall 5.2.
Christoph Werner, Senior Vice President of Koelnmesse GmbH, thinks the basis for success of the e-motion, amongst others, is provided by the show concept: “Our concept of presenting pedelecs and e-bikes on a motorcycle show is not only very good but also contemporary. Electromobility is an alternative means of local transport for many end-users. pedelecs and e-bikes are a sign for urban mobility.”
The concept of Intermot e-motion will be continued in 2014, focusing on the issues in one hall provides an own platform for the continuing trend at the bicycle fair. A cross-section of providers not only shows the latest pedelecs and e-bikes, e-scooters and e-motorcycles, but also presents the trends in the development of drive technologies.
New partners and stage program
“The new partnership with the ZEG underlines the importance of Intermot for the topic ‘electric mobility’, says Ingo Riedeberger. “In order to reach the widest possible audience, the ZEG will be represented twice: with an eye-catching truck in the hall as well as with a trail connection.”
A highlight of the Intermot e-motion 2012 was the test track. During the five days over 6,000 test drives were made. “The high number of test drives on a special e-course was great proof of the great interest of the private visitors towards the featured vehicles,” says Ingo Riedeberger. Also in 2014 a 300-meter indoor course and an 800-meter outdoor track will be laid out.
The Intermot Cologne will take place from 1 to 5 October 2014.
