ZEG Celebrates 50th Anniversary
COLOGNE, Germany – Europe’s biggest dealer cooperative gathered in Cologne last weekend for their annual order show. ZEG’s 50th anniversary party gave the event a special touch this year.
ZEG’s annual convention is more than just an order show for the affiliated retailers from Germany, Austria, and the Benelux countries. The get-together was also the annual members meeting as well as a mega industry dinner. The more than 1,500 guests, ZEG members and representatives of the 150 business partners from various countries, were welcomed by ZEG Managing Director Georg Honkomp.
Apparently it is no problem for the affiliated shops to attend the bicycle show mid July. “The timing of our event matches the bicycle planning schedule,” said Georg Honkomp. “Eurobike is simply too late for us to get the new models on the shop floor in time.”
E-bike trends model year 2016
As the first trade show on the European continent for model year 2016, the ZEG show was a clear indication of product trends on Europe’s biggest bicycle market. Notwithstanding the relatively small sales volumes sold this season, the e-MTB is the leading eye-catcher for next year.
A full report on the ZEG show will be published in the August issue of Bike Europe.
